Very sad news.
Comedian Bernie Mac died early Saturday morning from complications due to pneumonia.
The news was confirmed by his publicist.
He was only 50-years-old.
As our readers know, the funny man had been hospitalized for about a week.
A few years ago, Bernie disclosed that he suffered from sarcoidosis, a rare autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in tissue, most often in the lungs. However, his reps claimed early on that the bout of pneumonia he was fighting had nothing to do with the sarcoidosis.
He is survived by his wife Rhonda McCullough, their daughter, Je’Niece, a son-in-law and a granddaughter, Jasmine.
Our thoughts go out to his family during this very difficult time.
Actor and comedian Bernie Mac has been hospitalized due to pneumonia. There are conflicting reports surfacing about the star’s condition. His rep says that he is responding well to treatment and will be out of the hospital soon. A Chicago Sun-Times source who knows the comedian’s family says that Bernie Mac is actually in very critical condition.
The pneumonia is unrelated to Mac’s sarcoidosis, a chronic disease that can inflame tissue, particularly in the lungs. Mac’s sarcoidosis has been in remission since 2005.
Get well, Bernie!
