Why do the Lohans always record their phone conversations?

In a shocking recorded phone conversation between parents Michael and Dina Lohan, Lindsay’s mom claims she was dating Heath Ledger at the time of his tragic death in January 2008.

“She was dating Heath when he died,” she says. “I don’t know if you know that, but I know because I would drop her off and they were friends. Very, very close, OK?”

And Ledger’s death devastated the actress, now 23. “That f***ed her up,” her mother says.

Ledger died at age 28 on January 22, 2008 from an accidental, toxic combination of prescription drugs; he had recently separated from girlfriend, actress Michelle Williams, mother of their daughter Matilda, now 4. It was widely reported that Ledger was dating Mary-Kate Olsen at the time of his death. And we guess Lindsay wasn’t with Samantha Ronson at the time then? Interesting.

Michael released the audiotape to RadarOnline. Apparently recorded in September 2008, the tape includes a dialogue with Lindsay’s mom about her struggles to get their daughter to go to rehab. “She’d like, punch me in the face, kick me out of the car … like you don’t know the [expletive] I went through,” Dina is heard saying.

Michael claims the leaking of the tapes is meant to pressure Lindsay into seeking treatment for addiction. Earlier he released a tape in which Lindsay is heard crying and saying, “No one cares about me.”

Michael tells the Post he has even more recordings that will “prove everything [Lindsay] is saying is nothing more than a bunch of lies.”

Lindsay’s lawyer tells the paper that her legal team is weighing its options and consulting with law enforcement about how to proceed.

Among the other winners were “High School Musical 3,” “Yes Man,” “The Dark Knight” and “Baby Mama,” with “High School Musical 3″ picking up two trophies for Best Male Performance and Breakthrough Performance Female.

The late Heath Ledger was named best supporting actor for his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight, Sunday at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Costar Gary Oldman accepted the award.

“I am quite emotional,” Oldman said. “It is a great honor to be asked to accept this on behalf of Heath. He was an extraordinary young man with an extraordinary talent, and it is wonderful that you have acknowledged that and honored that talent tonight.

“On behalf of Heath, his family and his family on The Dark Knight, I thank you.”

On Jan. 22 – the first anniversary of his death – Ledger received an Academy Award nomination.

 

Heath Ledger received an Oscar nomination this morning for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Joker in The Dark Knight.  Sadly, the nomination comes exactly on the one year anniversary of his death.

2009 Academy Awards Nominees List

The 2009 Academy Awards were announced today. Brad Pitt’s latest movie “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” nabbed the most nods – 13 total. In a close second, the sleeper hit of the year “Slumdog Millionaire” scored 10 nominations.

The Oscars will be presented Feb. 22 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. The show, produced by Laurence Mark and exec produced by Bill Condon, will be hosted by Hugh Jackman and air live on ABC.

The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards were full of plenty of sparkle and major celebrities. The 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards saw “The Dark Knight” pull off a clean sweep, raking in all five awards for which it was nominated. When Heath Ledger died earlier this year from an accidental overdose, his will left everything to this parents and three sisters. It was written, of course, before the birth of his daughter Matilda with Michelle Williams. Many believed Michelle would file a claim for the estate, but Heath’s family has given the entire thing over to Matilda.

“There is no claim,” the newspaper quoted Kim Ledger as saying in a report published Sunday. “Our family has gifted everything to Matilda.”
The actor signed the will on April 12, 2003. It lists assets and cash of just $118,000, but the actor’s estate is believed to be worth more than $16.3 million.

Heath Ledger’s life insurance company is ruling his death a suicide to avoid paying $10 million to a trustee for his daughter who has filed a lawsuit:

Sources say lawyers for the insurance company have claimed Ledger’s death was “suspicious” — possibly suicide, which would nullify the policy. The company alleges in its answer to the lawsuit, “ReliaStar is entitled to investigate Plaintiff’s claim to determine if the ‘Suicide’ provision is applicable.” That provision states, “If the Insured commits suicide … we will pay only the amount of premiums paid to us.”
ReliaStar’s lawyers have informed Matilda’s lawyers they intend to take the depositions of Mary-Kate Olsen, as well as the masseuse who was at Ledger’s home when he died, Ledger’s colleagues on his last film, his agents, doctors, psychologists and others. Lawyers for Matilda believe the insurance company is trying to scare and shame them into submission. They believe ReliaStar is trying to drag the process out, for what could be years, to avoid paying the money.

Matilda’s lawyers say ReliaStar is violating California law which does not allow insurance companies to reexamine applications after the death of the policyholder.

Her lawyers believe the company should have already paid and say the company is acting “maliciously, fraudulently and/or oppressively.”

Since officials have stated that Heath’s cause of death was an accidental drug overdose, and not a suicide, shouldn’t they have to pay?! We think so!

Here is some very interesting news. 

Heath Ledger’s bar, Five Leaves, in the Brooklyn borough of New York City is set to open on Wednesday, almost eight months after the actor’s untimely death. Ledger, who financially backed the bar, died at age 28 of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs in January.

“It’s all meant to be a super casual California- and Australia-tinged cafe, coffeehouse and oyster bar, with greenmarket snacks,” a critic for UrbanDaddy.com wrote.

With steel light fixtures and “wire concoctions that seem right out of a lab,” Five Leaves resembles “a bar that Thomas Edison might have built for his buddies,” according to the review. The door to the bar’s bathroom is a “massive, ’20s-era boiler room door.”

On the bar’s menu? Sliced radishes on toast with Evans Farmhouse butter.
