Surrounded by the handprints and footprints of Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby to name a few, Hugh Jackman planted his prints outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in front of an estimated 500 fans.
After an introduction by Jay Leno, Jackman told the crowd that he’d first visited the landmark when he originally arrived in L.A. a dozen years ago. “It’s a very humbling moment as an actor to be here. You look down at the names, from Fred Astaire to Cary Grant, Clint Eastwood, Al Pacino, Steve McQueen, John Wayne, and to think that those people have been immortalized and pretty soon I’ll be putting my hands in wet cement,” Jackman said.
“I have to tell you, this particular block of real estate has brought me two moments in my life I thought would never ever happen. Hosting the Oscars and now here today. It means the world to me to be here.”
You can next see Jackman in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which debuts in theaters nationwide on May 1st.
The 2009 Academy Awards were announced today. Brad Pitt’s latest movie “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” nabbed the most nods – 13 total. In a close second, the sleeper hit of the year “Slumdog Millionaire” scored 10 nominations.
The Oscars will be presented Feb. 22 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. The show, produced by Laurence Mark and exec produced by Bill Condon, will be hosted by Hugh Jackman and air live on ABC.

People magazine has ended the suspense and announced its choice for this year’s “Sexiest Man Alive”: Aussie star Hugh Jackman.
“You can’t go wrong” with Jackman, People.com On-Air Correspondent Michelle Beadle told Early Show co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez after revealing the selection. “He’s Australian, first of all. He’s adorable. He’s got one of the best bodies ever. And he’s a family man. We all love that. He doesn’t — he’s not on the party scene. He loves his kids, he loves his wife. He likes to stay home and make pancakes. He’s almost too perfect!”
Jackman and his wife of 20-plus years are “a very romantic couple,” Beadle added.

“He has so much going for him,” Beadle told CBS News. “He’s a triple threat. Singer, dancer and actor.”
This is the first time Jackman is People’s “Sexiest Man Alive,” but he’s been in the issue before, in 2006. He replaces last year’s choice, Matt Damon.
Brad Pitt and George Clooney have both won twice, the most anyone has.
