Kanye West is known for being boastful and running his mouth.  So it is no surprise that he is at it again.

“I realize that my place and position in history is that I will go down as the voice of this generation, of this decade, I will be the loudest voice,” says West, 31.

“It’s me settling into that position of just really accepting that it’s one thing to say you want to do it, and it’s another thing to really end up being like Michael Jordan,” he added.

The Grammy-Award winning rapper also slams Justin Timberlake, saying he missed his chance to be a music MVP because Justin hasn’t put out enough material. Timberlake’s last album was in 2006, while West released a CD last year and is releasing his latest — “808s and Heartbreak” — on Nov. 24.

“There were people who had the potential to do it but they went on vacation, so when Justin went on vacation I made albums,” West said. “And it just came out to be that.”

Ouch!

We doubt that Justin will keep quiet about this one!  Didn’t Justin go on a world tour for about a year?  Maybe he hasn’t come out with as much music as Kanye, but it seems like Justin has kept busy. 

Kanye West has been arrested!

Kanye was arrested for felony vandalism at L.A.’s LAX airport.  A photographer was trying to take pictures of Kanye.  Kanye didn’t want his picture taken so he confronted the photographer and smashed his camera to the ground.

Another photographer was there filming the scene.  When Kanye realized he had been videotaped, he yelled, “Gimme that f**king tape!”  Kanye’s assistant then grabbed the video camera, and threw it to the ground, breaking it.  Kanye’s assistant was also arrested.

Kanye was sure making a big deal out of nothing.  We’d think he would be accustomed to having his picture taken in public by now. 

Chill with the temper, Kanye.

A glowing Beyoncé makes a glittery exit from Kanye West and Rihanna’s concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Tuesday. Then, it was time for a post-show meal with hubby Jay-Z and buddy Diddy.

One is newly single and one is newly married. It was boy’s night out for Kanye West and Jay-Z.

The pair partied at the nightclub Goa for West’s official afterparty following his “Glow in the Dark” tour performance at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. Famous guests such as Paris Hilton, Benji Madden, Rob Kardashian and Adrienne Bailon had already come and gone by the time the rappers showed up around 1 a.m.

A solo Jay-Z — clad in a hood, sunglasses and no wedding ring — arrived first and bypassed the red carpet. West entered the club about 10 minutes later and joined his friend in a center booth overlooking the dance floor. West smiled and greeted partygoers while clutching a bottle of Absolut 100 vodka, the event’s sponsor.

Jamie Foxx commanded a corner booth and entertained a bevy of beautiful women. “Friday Night Lights” stars Scott Porter and Minka Kelly grooved to the music. Nickelodeon host Quddus spent most of the night on the dance floor. And recent “American Idol” cast-off Michael Johns was stationed at a quiet Morrocan-themed bar away from the hubbub with a friend.

Kanye West is back on tour and is a single man. His engagement is now off with Alexis Phifer.

Says a source that knows the couple: “He broke up with her. Alexis still doesn’t really know what happened. It’s like she lost her best friend too. Things may change one day. He embraced her son and supported her business and her with all his heart. It’s just a rough time right now.”

Murmurs of a split began late last week with rumors erupting Monday morning over airwaves and blogs. A source close to the couple says that “Kanye is possessed by the tour and everything going on and just couldn’t keep it going. They are still friends and have broken up and gotten back together before, so it could work out.”

Says his former fiancee, Alexis Phifer: “It’s been hard and not been an easy time. I tried to keep things private but yes, it’s sad when things end like this and we truly do remain friends. I wish him the best in his future and all of his endeavors. He’s one of the most talented people I’ve ever met, that’s for sure.”

West, 30, proposed to Phifer in 2006 while vacationing in Italy.

Following a spectacular pyrotechnic and robot-filled performance of his hit “Stronger,” Kanye West sang a more low-key version of “Hey Mama” in honor of his mom, Donda, who died last November, at the Grammys last night. (Watch his fabulous performance below.)

Without backup singers or dancers, the Grammy winner slowly sang the words, his voice breaking at points. By the end of the performance, his eyes were full of tears.

West, who donned all black, also had the word “Mama” shaved into his hair.

After finishing the song, the audience gave him a standing ovation. A camera panned to Carrie Underwood, who had tears in her eyes.

Kanye later won Best Rap Album for Graduation.

“I appreciate all the words of support, appreciate all the prayers,” West told the audience. Then, addressing Amy Winehouse’s producer Mark Ronson, he said, “if I don’t win Album of the Year, I hope you’re up here because you deserve it, but I deserve it too!”

West then began recollecting on his mother.

Music began playing over him in an attempt to get him to wrap up his speech.

“It would be in good taste to stop the music now,” he sternly said.

The music was turned off.

Before leaving the stage, the rapper continued his tribute to his mother: “I know you’re really proud of me right now, and I know you wouldn’t want me to stop … and mama, all I want to do is keep making you proud.”

It has been three months since the sudden death of Donda West, 58, mother of famous rapper Kanye West.

West, who is up for eight nominations, has not been officially announced as a performer for the awards, which air February 10.

An insider says that West had a rehearsal at the Staples Center on Thursday afternoon.  Kanye performed a moving medley of his hits “Stronger” and “Hey Mama”.

Kanye’s mother died one day after undergoing cosmetic surgery on November 10.
