Katherine Heigl is “not likely” to be back on Grey’s Anatomy after the current season, according to a source close to the situation.
Heigl, who was due back on the set of the ABC medical drama after a three-month maternity leave but did not return to work, is negotiating her way out of her contract.
“The details, the timeline of that — it’s all shades of gray,” the source says. “The terms of her exit are still being sorted out.”
In the most recent episode to feature Heigl, her character, Dr. Izzie Stevens, walked away from the Seattle Grace hospital, leaving viewers to wonder whether she’ll be back at all.
“You can always have her return in a compelling way, and leave in an equally compelling way, because [show creator] Shonda [Rhimes] could certainly write that,” the source said. “It’s just not clear if she’ll come back onto the canvas this season, for a farewell arc, or if her storyline is already done.”
Reps for ABC Studios had no comment.
Katherine Heigl and her singer-songwriter husband Josh Kelley are adopting a baby girl from Korea. The couple married in 2007.
“It is a little girl and she’ll be 10 months at the end this month,” Heigl said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in an episode to air Friday. “She was actually born the day before me in November, which I thought was really serendipitous and just kind of like a sign. I realized just recently that I basically forfeited my birthday for the rest of my life.”
Heigl, who will take a five-episode break from Grey’s to shoot a her film Life As We Know It, said she and Kelley started the adoption process a year ago and received information on Naleigh, whom they have not yet met, six months ago.
Heigl always planned to adopt. “I’m done with the whole idea of having my own children,” Heigl once told USA Today. “[It] doesn’t seem like any fun. I don’t think it’s necessary to go through all of that.”
The baby will be named Naleigh — a hybrid of the names of Heigl’s mother and sister, Nancy and Leigh — and is from Korea. Heigl’s sister, Meg, was adopted from Korea.
“We started talking about adoption even before we were engaged because it’s really important to me,” Heigl said. “It’s been a big part of my life and my family. My sister is Korean and my parents adopted her back in the ’70s and so I just always knew that this is something I wanted to do.”
She said her new daughter will be coming “real soon.”
“I wanted to tell everybody so you don’t think I stole a Korean baby,” she said, laughing.
Hey, we wonder if her BFF T.R. Knight will be the baby’s godfather?

It has been a long time coming, but Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are leaving Grey’s Anatomy.
Co-star James Pickens Jr. confirmed the actors’ departures.
“Yes, she is,” Pickens says of Heigl’s departure. “Wherever Katherine goes, I wish her nothing but the best.”
Of Knight, “He’s going too,” Pickens said. “He just wanted to pursue other career paths.”
How much longer do you think Grey’s Anatomy will stay on TV?

Nope, she’s not pregnant!
Katherine Heigl got a new doggie from an animal shelter in Los Feliz. His name is Oscar.

How cute!
The 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards saw “The Dark Knight” pull off a clean sweep, raking in all five awards for which it was nominated. Held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, the star-studded affair also saw performer Carrie Underwood grab three awards while Tina Fey, Will Smith, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Katherine Heigl, Reese Witherspoon, Christina Applegate and Robin Williams all went home winners, as well.
Here is the complete list of winners for the 2009 People’s Choice Awards. (more…)

Sugar break!
Katherine Heigl popped a Hostess chocolate cupcake on the set of her movie The Ugly Truth in Los Angeles. “I can’t only eat fish and vegetables or work out seven days a week!” The actress has said.
I’ve always liked how down to earth Katherine Heigl is. Now I love her even more for seeing her chow down on a cupcake!

Here is a list of what some of Hollywood’s most talked about people earned in 2007. Remember, these are just 2007 earnings, not their total net worth. Somehow, Dr. Phil made $90 million in 2007 alone. I guess dispensing all of that, “I’ll tell you what” wisdom really pays off. The most peculiar entry on this list is Leona Helmsley’s dog, Trouble, who got $12 million dollars in her will, making Trouble a higher 2007 earner than Katherine Heigl and on equal to Ryan Seacrest. Isn’t that just a little insane?
Take a look at the list:

When I think of Kate Hudson the words funny, free-spirited, and light-hearted come to mind. I have never thought of her as being catty until I read what she said about Katherine Heigl.
Kate Hudson and Katherine Heigl have their share of box office success, although Heigl’s highest grossing movie, ‘Knocked Up,’ bests Hudson’s top effort, ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,’ by almost $40 million.
Both actresses have had movies debut at number one at the box office this year — Hudson’s ‘Fool’s Gold’ and Heigl’s ‘Dresses.’
So when Kate Hudson was asked about Katherine Heigl’s success and Heigl being Hudson’s box office rival in a magazine interview, Hudson pretended she didn’t know who Heigl is and pretty much dissed her with the response she gave.
“Who is she? Oh, that girl in ‘27 Dresses’?” Hudson said.
No one believes that she honestly doesn’t know who Katherine Heigl is.
That was a pretty bitchy answer. Not cute, Kate!

In our opinion, Katherine Heigl was the best dressed lady last night! She is not just a TV actress – she’s a movie star! And, she definitely looked the part at the Oscars on Sunday.
Katherine is simply riveting in red! Love, love, love her!!!
