Kirsten Dunst banned a writer from the set of her new film after he ‘criticized’ her acting ability.

British novelist Toby Young wrote the book on which the actress’s new film – How to Lose Friends and Alienate People – is based, and visited the set on several occasions.

On his second visit, Mr. Young made comments regarding Kirsten’s performance to a producer – and it led to the actress asking movie bosses to bar him from the studio.

He says: “She overheard me giving the producer a ‘note’ on her performance in a particular scene.

“At the time, I didn’t think of it as a criticism, more as a helpful bit of advice, and the producer took it in that spirit.

“But Kirsten overheard this exchange and interpreted it as a complaint about her acting ability.

“It was after this, apparently, that she took Bob (Weide, the director) to one side and asked if I could be kept at arm’s length in future.”

Wow, Kirsten!  Why so insecure?

Kirsten Dunst was out in New York City getting her caffeine fix and looking happy. 

And I hope that she is.  The actress went to rehab back in February of this year.  In May, Dunst talked about her time in rehab, saying that she went in seeking treatment for depression.

Kirsten Dunst is speaking out about the time that she spent in rehab at Cirque Lodge in Utah.

According to Dunst, who is 26:

“I didn’t go to Cirque Lodge for alcohol abuse or drug abuse. I went there for depression. It was a good six months before I decided to go away. I was struggling, and I had the opportunity to go somewhere and take care of myself. I was fortunate to have the resources to do it. My friends and family thought it was a good idea, too. But I didn’t know where to go. My doctor recommended Cirque Lodge.”

When it was announced that Dunst has entered into a rehab facility, it was widely assumed that the actress was seeking treatment for alcohol abuse. Dunst is often photographed drunk, to which many tabloid bloggers nicknamed her “Kirsten Drunkst”.

I’m not sure if I completely believe that she was in rehab strictly for depression and nothing else. That just doesn’t sound likely.

Is Kirsten Dunst breezing through her 12 steps to sobriety? According to a pal, she has been calling friends to make amends, which happens to be step nine. One of the first people Kirsten, 25, reached out to is her Spider-Man co-star and former boyfriend, Tobey Maguire.

“Kirsten apologized for things she did to him when they worked together and dated in 2001,” the insider reveals. Tobey, 32, said he forgave Kirsten, says the insider. Kirsten checked into Utah’s Cirque Lodge in February. Eva Mendes was also there at the time.

Who needs rehab when you have retail therapy? Kirsten Dunst took a break from Cirque Lodge treatment center on Sunday to shop at the local Target in Orem, Utah, with an unidentified male friend. As we already reported, Kirsten Dunst is in rehab at the Cirque Lodge in Utah.  Eva Mendes is also a patient there.  Former Cirque patients include: Mary Kate Olsen, Lindsay Lohan, and Richie Sambora.

There are new details about Kirsten entering rehab.

“She’s not doing well,” the source says. “People were pushing her to go in there but there was no intervention… She has been partying hard for a while and I’m sure the Heath Ledger thing put people over the edge.”

Adds the source, “She’s been crying a lot lately, a lot built up. …Everybody hits that bottom where you feel [so] scared that that one heavy night of partying can really wake you up. It’s good she’s getting herself help.”

Dunst, 25, who is a regular on the party scene in Los Angeles, was recently seen partying at the Sundance Film Festival where she hung out with Josh Hartnett at Hyde Lounge. Despite reports of erratic behavior at the festival, sources say Dunst was just displaying her usual “care free party girl antics.”

“She was in a big group of friends and they were dancing their asses off by their table. They looked like they were having a great time and they were getting pretty crazy,” said a source at the time.

However, the following day Dunst failed show up to her own Glamour magazine party. A source at the time said the actress “wasn’t feeling well.”

Star magazine is reporting that Kirsten Dunst is in rehab!

The actress has checked herself into Cirque Lodge in Utah.  Eva Mendes is there right now.  Former patients include: Mary Kate Olsen, Lindsay Lohan, and Richie Sambora.

“She not in a good place right now, but thankfully, she’s getting the help she needs.”

Kirsten, 25, has long had a reputation for partying, with bloggers giving her the unfortunate nickname of Kirsten Drunkst.

Dunst’s decision came after an especially wild week of partying at the Sundance Film Festival.

“She desperately needed help,” a source in Utah says. “She seemed to be intoxicated when she checked in because she was acting really erratic. She was extremely emotional, constantly breaking down in tears.

On a side note, I remember seeing Kirsten do an interview a few years ago and she talked about how there was no food in her house, just champagne.  Then she went on about buying champagne at Costco–in bulk!
