Does this mean no more rasp?!
Talk show host and Food Network star Rachel Ray has had a cyst removed from her vocal cord.
Ray underwent the procedure last week. According to Ray’s rep, Charlie Dougiello, “Rachael decided to have a benign cyst removed from her vocal cord.”
Dougiello says that “the minor, non-invasive procedure was a success and she is already resting at home.”
Prior to the surgery, Ray had been attempting months of vocal therapy to no avail. She had once scheduled this exact surgery, but canceled to try other methods.
Citing Ray’s boisterous personality, Dougiello joked that “the hardest part for Rachael is going to be giving her voice a rest for the next week or so.”
Rachel Ray celebrated her 40th birthday in a rather unusual way.
She went skydiving. Did we mention, it was her fourth time?!
“I find it strangely calming,” she says. “I feel at peace afterward.”
Rach also went to the doctor for a check-up. Everything is fine, except for that raspy voice of hers.
She said she has “perfect blood pressure,” but she has bruised her vocal chords.
“I never shut up long enough for that to heal,” said Ray, who added that she does “about 280 episodes” a year. “They’re going to try to teach me how to speak properly. I don’t know if an old dog can learn new tricks, but I’m going to try.”
She has been taking antacids, downing herbal tea and using an Echinacea spray. “I must learn how to change the way I speak,” she said.
Maybe Rach was screaming too much all those times she went skydiving!

Rachael Ray won’t be starting a family anytime soon.
“I’m too tired,” Ray, 39, says in a new interview with Extra. “I feel like I’m a bad mom to my dog… I have five jobs, and I just don’t think I could take on the biggest job of being a parent.”
That’s OK though. Not everyone wants kids. Get over it, people.
She also brushed off recent tabloid reports that she’s had plastic surgery.
“I really laughed at the one that said I had a brow lift,” she says. “Do you really think if somebody gave me a week off I would spend it under a knife and if I was going to cut something off, don’t you think it’d be my butt and not my forehead?”
For now, Ray is content with her looks, she says, as well as her marriage to entertainment lawyer John Cusimano.
“The first couple of times I got angry and then I got upset and now I just laugh,” Ray says of rumors they’re having marital trouble. “I mean, what else are you going to do?”
