Corey Haim died suddenly on March 10 at the age of 38. Now, details about his memorial and burial are being revealed.

According to Haim’s manager Marc Heaslip, there will be a memorial service in Los Angeles prior to the funeral in Toronto, and the family will accept donations to help pay for the funeral services.

There’s widespread speculation that Corey’s death was the result of a prescription drug overdose, though Heaslip says he doesn’t believe it was intentional.

Haim was reportedly caring for his ailing mother Judy who is fighting a battle with breast cancer. And Heaslip says she’s taking it the hardest. “She’s not doing well at all. This is really hitting her.”

According to longtime friend Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, 38, died broke and alone.

Feldman, who appeared on Larry King Live Wednesday night, said Haim was “very destitute, very broke,” had no car and few friends.

“At the end of the day, Larry, where were all these people the last 10 years, the last 15 years of Corey’s life?” asked Feldman, also 38. “Where were all these people to lend a hand out, to reach out to him and say, you know, you’re a legend, you’re – you’re an amazingly talented, wonderful person who’s really never gone out of his way to hurt anybody other than himself?”

But Feldman admitted that Haim “burnt a lot of bridges in the industry. He made mistakes, as I did when I was young. I took 20 years of rebuilding to get to the point where I am today, where people actually take me seriously. Corey made a lot of mistakes for many years longer than I did. And it took him a lot longer to get to the point of recognition. However, once he got there, nobody was left to pull him back up.”

Feldman stopped speaking to Haim in 2008 because the actor refused to get help for his substance-abuse problems. But recently, Haim “shaped up,” Feldman said. “He got his act together. He was doing so much better.”

Feldman also said Haim was recently seeing a new treatment specialist who put him on a new line of medications. Feldman did not specify which they were, but said, “Let’s just say that they may not have corresponded properly with the medications that he was currently taking.”

Feldman had noticed a marked shift in his friend since his mother, with whom Haim was living in a month-to-month rental property, was diagnosed with cancer. “He shaped up. He got his act together,” Feldman said. “When his mom got ill, it was the first time I ever saw Corey grow up.”

Feldman said “a sizeable memorial” will be planned for Haim – which he hopes will be well-attended. “You see these people making great statements and that’s wonderful and I hope they’re all there for the memorial and I hope they’re all there for the funeral. But where were they during his life?”

Actor Corey Haim, 38, is dead after an accidental drug overdose. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Coroner confirmed that Haim, who battled substance addiction for several years, was found unresponsive in an Oakwood apartment and pronounced dead at Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center at 2:15 a.m. this morning. Reportedly, his mother was in the apartment at the time.

The Canadian-born actor starred the 1987 vampire flick “The Lost Boys,” but was probably best known for his roles with fellow actor Corey Feldman.

Haim began his career in 1984 as a child actor, but his big break came in 1987 with “The Lost Boys,” which also starred Feldman and Kiefer Sutherland.

Haim, who has been in and out of rehab, also starred in “The Two Coreys,” a reality show with Feldman that aired in 2007 and 2008.

The show was cancelled during its second season. Feldman reportedly refused to continuing working with Haim until he sought help for his drug addiction.

In a 2004 interview with Britain’s The Sun newspaper, Haim spoke openly about his substance-abuse problems and said that he smoked his first joint on the set of The Lost Boys. The article says Haim had been in and out of rehab as many as 15 times.

“I lived in L.A. in the Eighties, which was not the best place to be. I did cocaine for about a year and a half, then it led to crack,” he said in the interview.

Haim’s filmography on Internet Movie Data Base shows a number of recent projects in various states of development at the time of the actor’s death.

Not sure why the Academy decided to leave out Farrah Fawcett, Bea Arthur and Ed McMahon, as part of the montage of recently departed actors who appeared in film as well as on television.

Farrah may have been most widely known for her role on the television series Charlie’s Angels, but she also stared in big screen films such as Man of the House and Cannonball Run. Farrah was also in Extremities, and most notably The Apostle (which got an Oscar nomination), Dr. T. and the Women, and Logan’s Run, just to name a few.

That’s much more than Michael Jackson, and he made the list.

An Academy spokesperson told the AP, “Every year it’s an unfortunate reality that we can’t include everybody.

Actress, comedian and singer Bea Arthur passed away in April at the age of 86. She also was most widely known for her role as Dorothy on The Golden Girls, but also starred in films such as Mame, opposite Lucille Ball.

Ed McMahon had a career spanning more than 60 years.

Post-mortem results confirm that Alexander McQueen, 40, died from asphyxiation and hanging.

At an official inquest at Westminster Coroner’s Court in London, it was revealed that Lee Alexander McQueen hanged himself in a wardrobe closet at his Mayfair apartment, leaving a suicide note by his side. The body of the designer was found on Feb. 11 by his sister, Janet McQueen, the BBC reports.

A representative of the Metropolitan Police said at the five-minute initial hearing that there were no suspicious circumstances, while the coroner’s office said the full report of the post-mortem examination was not yet available. The inquest was adjourned until April. 28.

A rep at the Alexander McQueen fashion house says, “There has been no date set for a memorial but we hope to know more shortly,” and adds: “It will be very low-key.”

The family laid to rest the designer’s mother, Joyce McQueen, in East London only last Friday, the day after Alexander McQueen’s body was discovered.

As a mark of respect to McQueen, Lady Gaga toned down her performance at the Brit Awards in London on Tuesday night, and, the Sun reports, converted her dressing room into a shrine to her close pal. Photos of the fashion icon were pinned to the walls.

Last week, Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour called McQueen “one of the greatest talents of his generation…His passing marks an insurmountable loss.”

British fashion designer Alexander McQueen, 40, was found dead at his London home this morning.

“Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand, has been found dead at his home,” his family says in a statement. “At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee’s family.”

“Lee’s family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this,” the statement continues.

Britain’s Daily Mail reports that he hanged himself in his luxury apartment.

McQueen’s death comes days after the death of his mother, Joyce, and almost three years after the May 2007 suicide of his close friend Isabella Blow, who discovered the designer and helped launch his career. The designer was so upset at his friend’s death, that he dedicated his spring-summer show at Paris Fashion Week 2008 to the late Blow.

The results of Brittany Murphy’s toxicology report have just been released.

Brittany Murphy’s cause of death has been determined an accidental death caused by “community acquired pneumonia,” iron deficiency anemia, and multiple drug intoxication. The L.A. County Coroner concludes on the subject of “How injury occurred” — “Drug intake.”

What makes this even sadder, is that Brittany’s death was preventable.

Sources say the primary causes of Murphy’s death were pneumonia and severe anemia. L.A. County Coroner officials believe Brittany’s condition was “treatable” but no one took her to the hospital in time. As for the multiple drugs found in her system, we’re told they were prescription, including medicine for cramps, and over-the-counter medications, including cough syrup. Our sources say the drugs “pushed her over the line” but the underlying problems were the pneumonia and anemia.

Presumably because Brittany’s husband, Simon Monjack’s failed charity scheme was the mother of all red flags, the LA Coroner’s Office paid a visit to Brittany Murphy’s home yesterday where they questioned Tubby McGrift and Brittany’s mom. Apparently authorities feel the toxicology report isn’t telling “the whole story.”

Sources say a man who worked at Brittany Murphy’s house has told the Coroner’s Office that someone would deliver a sealed, manila envelope to the house every Friday filled with prescription medications in bottles. The name on the envelope, “Lola.”

Sources say the ex-employee told the Coroner drugs were also mailed from Los Angeles to Louisiana, where Brittany was shooting a movie and Simon was tagging along in the months before she died. We’re told the pathologist in the Coroner’s Office who is working on the case had a variety of questions for Simon and Sharon. Among the questions: Why was there no record of Brittany seeing a doctor in the months before her death, especially because she had several medical conditions and was experiencing severe abdominal pains days before her death?

J.D. Salinger, 91, a celebrated author and enigmatic recluse whose 1951 novel “The Catcher in the Rye” became an enduring anthem of adolescent angst and youthful rebellion and a classic of 20th-century American literature, has died at his home in Cornish, N.H.

Salinger was the hermit crab of American letters. When he emerged, it was usually to complain that somebody was poking at his shell. Over time Salinger’s exemplary refusal of his own fame may turn out to be as important as his fiction. In the 1960s he retreated to a small house in Cornish, N.H., and rejected the idea of being a public figure.

Despite his seclusion, Salinger’s work remained popular. For decades, “The Catcher in the Rye” (his only novel) was required reading for students in junior high and high school. The lively, contradictory voice of the novel’s protagonist, Holden Caufield, was thought to be something adolescent readers could connect to.

Casey Johnson, the heiress to the Johnson & Johnson fortune who recently made tabloid headlines with a purported engagement to reality star Tila Tequila, has died at age 30.

Los Angeles police and firefighters were called to a house at 11:51 a.m. Monday. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. A law enforcement says it appears Johnson had been dead for several days before her body was discovered.

Casey was the great-great granddaughter of the founder of the pharmaceutical giant, and the daughter of New York Jets owner Robert Wood Johnson. She was mother to a three year-old girl, Ava. Johnson adopted Ava in Kazakhstan in 2007, but the little girl is now in the custody of Johnson’s mother, Sale Johnson, in Manhattan.

Tila Tequila (real name: Tila Nguyen), 28, also confirmed the tragic news on her Twitter:

“Everyone please pray 4 my Wifey Casey Johnson. She has passed away. Thank u for all ur love and support but I will be offline to be w family”

An openly gay socialite, Johnson had a knack for attracting paparazzi – and trouble. A nasty fight with ex-girlfriend Courtenay Semel, daughter of former Yahoo chief Terry Semel, reportedly resulted in Johnson’s hair catching on fire last October. Then in November, she was arrested for allegedly breaking into another former girlfriend’s house.

In December, Tequila announced the pair were engaged. “Tonight, my beautiful girlfriend has just asked me to marry her and check out this rock,” the lingerie-wearing Tequila said in an Internet video. “Bam! That is a 17-carat diamond ring from my baby.”

Casey Johnson had a history with drug abuse. Johnson recently left a stint in rehab – early.

A “Saturday Night Live” sketch that satirized the actress Brittany Murphy has been pulled from Internet sites like hulu.com, provoking disagreements among viewers about whether the video should be allowed to remain on the Web, and whether “SNL” should have performed the skit at all.

In a segment that appeared on the Dec. 5 episode of “Saturday Night Live,” Seth Meyers, the show’s Weekend Update anchor and head writer, noted reports that Ms. Murphy had recently been fired from a film project called “The Collar.” He was soon joined at the Weekend Update desk by his castmate Abby Elliott, who was impersonating Ms. Murphy. The fictional Ms. Murphy seemed to be disoriented and still under the impression she was on an episode that the real-life actress had hosted in 2002. (“You are not the host,” Mr. Meyers told Ms. Elliott throughout the skit.)

Though video of that sketch was posted to hulu.com soon after the show was broadcast, after Ms. Murphy’s death on Sunday, it disappeared from the site. A message on hulu.com reads, “Unfortunately this video is no longer available, but here are other related videos to watch.” (Bootlegs of the skit have turned up on other blogs.) A news-media representative for “Saturday Night Live” declined to comment.

As news of Ms. Murphy’s death surfaced on Sunday, many bloggers noted that what seemed like a curiously timed sketch two weeks ago — when Ms. Murphy was not much in the public eye and had not had a new movie to promote in many months — seemed to be in especially poor taste given her sudden demise and the uncertain circumstances surrounding it.

The Los Angeles County coroner has said that an official cause of Ms. Murphy’s death might not be determined for some time.)
