We never thought of Scarlett Johansson as being out of shape, but the actress kicked her workouts into high gear for Iron Man 2.
The actress was a Comic-Con over the weekend and answered some questions about her role in Iron Man 2.
When asked how she got into such killer shape for her role of the Russian spy Black Widow for “Iron Man 2,” Scarlett explained, “I kicked some major butt. It was many, many, hours, days, and months of stunt training and strength training, but it’s fun because I had a goal. The goal was the Lycra catsuit.”
Was she pleased with the results of her hard work? “Finally I was, yes,” she said with a laugh. “You put that much work into something and you put it on and you better be happy with it.”
When it came to putting on the catsuit, “It was crazy to see it for the first time – everything all zipped up and all the weapons in there, bracelets on, the whole look. It was pretty sweet, I have to say,” she says.
As for the impression it made, “Certainly walking on set, because a lot of the people that worked on the film were fans of the comic and of course they knew the Black Widow – they were all super excited to see the Black Widow,” the actress says. “When everybody in the crew were like, ‘That looks awesome!’ I knew. Like, ‘Okay.’ ”
Jon Favreau, the Iron Man 2 director added, “She was wearing an unforgiving costume. She didn’t eat much, that’s for sure. She likes food, as do I, and she was definitely on a low-carb diet and training very hard. It was amazing.”
Iron Man 2 will be in theaters nationwide May 7, 2010.

This Entertainment Weekly cover highlights the new aspects of ‘Iron Man 2′ with Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr. and Mickey Rourke. Did you notice that Gwyneth Paltrow was missing? I actually didn’t until I read this article from The Sun claiming that the actress is furious she wasn’t included in the photoshoot.
“Gwyneth was afraid she’d be upstaged by Scarlett and not being in the campaign was the final straw. She is furious she’s been left out.”
Gwyneth’s rep has already responded to this rumor claiming she is not at all upset.
“She was not at all upset. The fans will get to see more of Pepper Potts as we get closer to the film’s release next May.”
Did anyone expect her rep to say, “Yes, Gwyneth is quite angry that she was omitted from the mag’s cover.” Riiight.
Iron Man 2 will be in theaters on May 7, 2010. Iron Man will battle new villain Mickey Rourke, size up Scarlett Johansson, and, hopefully, prove that the success of the first movie wasn’t a fluke. Downey knows the movie isn’t an underdog this time around. “There are a lot more invisible eyes on us now,” he says.
When Marvel Studios first announced the sequel, no one was sure what the movie would be about. Downey, director Jon Favreau, screenwriter Justin Theroux, and the rest of the creative team struck upon the idea of introducing two very different foes for Stark. On one side is Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell), a fast-talking weapons manufacturer who fancies himself the next Tony Stark; on the other, Vanko, who, while incarcerated in a Russian prison, creates his own battle-suit, which shoots devastating, whip-like beams. Hammer and Whiplash join forces to take down Downey’s character, Tony Stark. Rourke, for his part, wanted to instill some lightness into the role of the heavy. “I told Favreau, ‘I don’t want to just play him as a one-dimensional p—-,’” he says. “He let me have a cockatoo, who I talk to and get drunk with while I’m making my suit.”
Just as the deals were being hammered out, Terrence Howard — who had played Stark’s best friend — fell out of the sequel in a public salary dispute. The role was re-cast, with Don Cheadle stepping in. “We had to make some tough deals,” says Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. “When they got public, you go, ‘That sucks. Okay, you want a peek behind the curtain? Here you are!’” Says Cheadle, “Terrence and I couldn’t be more different. We address it head-on in the movie in one exchange. We’re not trying to fool people.” Cheadle admits he didn’t know much about Marvel’s superhero before the first movie came out: “I always thought Iron Man was a robot.”
Adding more flesh and blood to the new movie, Scarlett Johansson joined the cast as Stark’s mysterious new assistant, Natasha, who has an alter ego of her own, Black Widow. That introduction inevitably sparks romantic tension between Stark and former assistant Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), who’s been promoted to CEO of Stark Industries. “The men want it to be, like, ‘Ooh, the girls are fighting over Tony,’ but it’s not as standard as that,” says Paltrow. “There’s a weird male catfight fantasy. Downey agrees. He believes what differentiates the franchise from other superhero series can be summarized as follows: “We’re horny. Not, like, can’t-bring-your-kids horny, but just…horny.”
The question remains whether Iron Man 2 will soar like the first film or show signs of rust when it hits theaters. “People are going to be more critical,” says Downey. “That’s their prerogative….In a way, there’s no way to win, except to win. Big.”
Apparently Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johansson aren’t getting along on the set of Iron Man 2.
According to The Sun:
One Hollywood source revealed yesterday: “Gwyneth has become very frustrated with Scarlett. They come from different worlds and have completely different styles. Gwyneth has found Scarlett very demanding of the attention of the crew. It’s not a happy set.”
The on-set source added: “Gwyneth and Scarlett have never been particularly close.
“Gwyneth was looking forward to working with Emily Blunt, who was originally in line for the part, but it ended up being Scarlett. Gwyneth’s had to live with that and she has been very professional, but she and Scarlett haven’t developed a friendship on the shoot, which is almost at the half way point.
“In fact, it’s quite the opposite.”

Here are all of the ladies at the premiere for He’s Just Not That Into You. From left to right: Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Connelly, Jennifer Aniston, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Scarlett Johansson.
All of the ladies have very different styles and they all look great!
Ads for Dolce & Gabbana’s new cosmetics line were released today, featuring Scarlett Johansson as Marilyn Monroe reincarnate.
The ads are definitely sexy, but they seem unoriginal.
In a recent statement, Stefana Gabbana said of Johansson:
Scarlett is sure of herself. She’s a beautiful girl, but she’s really easy going. She is very Dolce & Gabbana.
Why dress up a girl who is so sure of herself as someone else? Isn’t the point of hiring Scarlett Johansson is that she is a big star? D&G could have just hired some random lookalike for less money to be Marilyn Monroe.
Scarlett Johannson blew her nose on The Tonight Show with Jay Lenoand that used Kleenex has sold for thousands on Ebay. Yes, thousands of dollars. For a used Kleenex. Full of snot. And we’re in a recession.
Scarlett was still under-the-weather from a cold she picked up from her co-star in “The Spirit,” Samuel L. Jackson.
“I feel like it’s valuable in some way,” the actress said, “I feel like I could sell it on eBay.”
Sensing an opportunity, Leno handed her a box of tissues and encouraged her to got to town. The resulting wad (complete with bonus of smear of lipstick and Johansson’s autograph) was then listed on eBay.
Bidding started on Ebay for 99 cents and ended at $5,300. 83 people bid on it.
The money will go to the charity USA Harvest, an organization that distributes food restaurants don’t sell to people in need.
At least the money is going to a good cause!

One dark and coke-fueled night, the ever-unpredictable Lindsay Lohan scrawled “Scarlett is a bloody cunt”, on the wall of a bathroom stall in a New York City club.
Many moons later, Scarlett Johansson is still scratching her head and wondering what that girl’s problem was/is.
Talking about the incident in the new issue of “Allure”, Johansson said of Lohan, “I really don’t know that person. I only met her, like, three times.” Interestingly enough, when Scarlett Johansson was 13, she lost the lead role in “The Parent Trap” to Lindsay Lohan. So if anything, Scarlett should be the one writing angry bathroom notes to Lindsay. Not really, but no one is sure what Lindsay’s problem with Scarlett is.
When reminded about the bathroom stall incident, which happened two and a half years ago, Johansson said, “That’s what I heard. I don’t know what the motivation was behind that. I remember it was something really vulgar–I mean, shockingly so, like, ‘Whoa, what, who are you?’”
Engaged for four months and dating just over a year, Scarlett Johansson married Ryan Reynolds on Saturday night.
The pair had a small wedding in Reynolds’ native Canada.
This is the first marriage for both.
Congrats to the couple!

As we informed you yesterday, Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds are engaged!
Newly engaged Scarlett Johansson showed off her round, white diamond ring from Ryan Reynolds at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala in New York City on Monday.
Wearing an ivory D&G dress, the actress, 23, was escorted by designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. (Reynolds, 31, was in Boston filming the aptly titled comedy The Proposal.)
What do you think of the ring? It is pretty simple. We love these two, but Scarlett is only 23. Do you think they will make it to the altar? Will it last?

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds are getting hitched!
A rep for the pair confirmed the happy news.
Scarlett and Ryan have been dating over a year now.
“They’re both thrilled,” says Johansson’s publicist, Marcel Pariseau.
Scarlett previously dated Josh Hartnett and has been linked to Benicio Del Toro; Ryan was engaged to singer Alanis Morrisette.
We’ll see if they actually make it to the altar. However, we hope that these two do! We also hope they decide to make babies together. Their offspring would be adorable!

Oh no! Ryan and Scarlett were spotted on the street having an argument. Click here to find out how it all went down!
