Seth Rogen Fulfills His Dream

Seth Rogen

Seth Rogen has fulfilled a dream of his and it involves a television project, not a movie.

Rogen co-wrote an episode of “The Simpsons” and lends his voice to a character in the episode that kicked off the Fox show’s 21st season last night. He’s only the second visiting celebrity to both write and act, following in the 2006 footsteps of Ricky Gervais.

The episode, by Rogen and writing partner Evan Goldberg in collaboration with the show’s writers, plays off the actor’s pre-filming fitness regimen for “Green Hornet.” The movie is in production and set for release in 2010.

In “Homer the Whopper,” Rogen plays a trainer assigned to get Homer Simpson in superhero shape to play Everyman, a hero created by Comic Book Guy and played by the rotund couch potato.

“We wanted to comment on how Hollywood generally ruins these movies. The whole joke is Homer is cast to play a guy who’s an everyman and they try to make him into this physically fit guy,” Rogen said.

“As a writer, it always just seemed like the Holy Grail,” Rogen said of the animated series. “I can die a happy man now.”

Recording with the cast was “one of the highlights of my life,” said the seriously devoted “Simpsons” fan (favorite episodes include “Itchy & Scratchy Land” and the one in which Bart sells his soul to Milhouse).

“It was completely surreal. I was just in shock afterward. I felt like I had gone skydiving or survived an earthquake,” Rogen said.

Other celebrities to be heard on “The Simpsons” this season include Sarah Silverman, Angela Bassett, Eli Manning and Bob Costas.

As for Rogen’s part in “Green Hornet,” he’s still processing his on-screen switch from lovable schlub to dapper leading man. He and Goldberg wrote the screenplay.

“It’s odd to see yourself looking cool when you’re someone like me,” Rogen said, laughing. “It’s just not something I’m used to.”

Celebrity Feud: Seth Rogen vs. Entourage

If you watched this week’s episode of HBO’s hit Entourage, then you know that they writers went after Seth Rogen’s “ugliness”. The Entourage guys even had a debate over whether the actor could land a Katherine Heigl-type in real life, a-la the movie Knocked Up.
Celebrity Feud: Seth Rogen vs. Entourage
You might expect Rogen to laugh it off, as he is a guy that doesn’t take himself to seriously, but calling someone ugly is a bit harsh.

Rogen said,

“Yeah, those guys are assholes. I actually ran into Matt…Kevin Dillon in a Starbucks. And he’s like ‘you know, I’ve got to kind of apologize because apparently the guy who created our show doesn’t like you so much.’ And I said ‘well I have reason to believe because I think [showrunner] Doug Ellin is a moron from all I can understand so it makes sense he doesn’t like me.’ And I’ve kind of said some disparaging things about the show. Although in our defense, [producer] Mark Wahlberg called us misogynistic in an interview, so I think they kind of started that…It’s on. Luckily I never have and never plan on watching Entourage.”

Lindsay Lohan Tells Lies…Who Would Have Guessed?

Lindsay Lohan blames “sicko” fans and celebrities not calling her back for her lack of work. Lindsay blames everyone…but herself.

In an interview with Moviefone, Seth Rogen said he didn’t know what Lohan was talking about when she told Nylon he wasn’t returning her phone calls about a project.

He said, “That is not … That’s the first I had heard of that. And my assistant hadn’t heard it either. I can tell you that she hasn’t called me. If she has, I haven’t heard about it. [But] I would call her back, sure! I’d return a call.”

Is Lindsay delusional or just a compulsive liar?

Vanity Fair Showcases Comedy’s New Legends
The term “new legend” might sound like an oxymoron, but it is the perfect description for the comedic talent that is presented in Vanity Fair’s April issue.

We can’t wait until our issue arrives!

Quote of the Day

“I love porn. I watch tons of porn. The Internet speeds have evolved directly with my sexual drive.”

Seth Rogen, star of the upcoming Kevin Smith comedy, Zack and Miri Make A Porno.

When it came to signing on for the movie, Rogen says, “I almost did it purely based on the title.”

The comedy (which premieres Sunday at the Toronto International Film Festival) centers on Rogen (who has a nude scene) and his pal (Elizabeth Banks), who play lifelong BFFs who discover there may be something more to their relationship when they make a porn flick to pay off their debts.

Smith says he wrote the script with Rogen in mind.

“I started seeing billboards going up with his face on them and I was like, ‘We lost this guy,’” Smith says. “This dude was like a supporting actor in 40-Year-Old Virgin, and he’s just waiting for somebody to give him his own movie.”

When he sent Rogen an e-mail asking if he would read the screenplay, the actor shot back an answer within 2 minutes.

Says Rogen of Smith, “To me, he was like Steven Spielberg.”

Fun fact: The movie poster for Zack and Miri that you see above has been banned in the US, but not Canada. I wonder what kind of cleaned up poster they will produce for the American audiences. I doubt it will be as funny or clever as this one!

Seth Rogen

Thanks to YourMovieStuff.com for this scoop.

Seth Rogen is constantly working these days. Good for him, because the apocalypse is coming! The end of days are near for Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel.
The pair will star in the action comedy “Jay and Seth vs. the Apocalypse” for Mandate Pictures. Can the end of the world be funny?

The film is based on a comedy short from “Superbad” writers Rogen and Evan Goldberg, which in turn was based on a story by Goldberg and Jason Stone. Rogen and Goldberg will write and produce the feature.

Several production companies vied for the rights to the comedy, which revolves, as the title implies, around two guys dealing with the apocalypse. Last summer, the project caused a stir in the blogosphere when a trailer for the short appeared on YouTube.

I have been waiting to see Pineapple Express ever since I saw the trailer a few months ago.  Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse probably won’t disappoint me either!

Seth Rogen Won’t Say If Pot Was Real at MTV Movie Awards

Seth Rogen and James Franco at the 2008 MTV Movie Awards

Who got the biggest buzz at Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards?

Pineapple Express stars Seth Rogen and James Franco, who said they were smoking “fake weed” as they presented the award for “best summer movie so far.”

They joked that MTV chose them because only “two potheads like us” would be willing to announce such a weird category.

As they pulled out a “huge fatty joint” and lit it, cameras pulled to a wide angle and stayed that way until the two left the stage.

New York’s Daily News wrote that the “sweet scent wafting through the Gibson Amphitheatre suggested the herb was real.” Added Robert Downey Jr. (whose film Iron Man won): “Thanks for that intoxicating introduction.”

Rogen refused to reveal if the pot were real.

“I’m not going to answer that question,” he told the Daily News.

Asked what was in the bag, Franco told the Associated Press, “I don’t know! MTV gave it to us.”

He said MTV asked them to do the joke, even providing them with the script and fake weed.

Before they went on, he said, “backstage there was this big commotion: ‘You guys can’t [do] that.’”

(MTV has refused to comment.)

Franco said he was disappointed that the cameras went wide.

Said the actor, “I think they killed the joke.”
