Steve-O On Suicide Watch

Jackass star Steve-O has been hospitalized at a mental health unit of L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and charged with a felony possession of cocaine by the L.A. County District Attorney. The Jackass star is being held at L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after threatening to take his own life.

It is the same unit that treated Owen Wilson last year following the actor’s suicide attempt, TMZ says.

According to an insider, Steve-O was taken to the emergency room on Sunday afternoon. After drug tests, he was checked into the Thalians Mental Health Center — known for doing crisis intervention — where he was put on a 72-hour hold. That has since been extended to 14 days.

“Steve is stabilized on meds at this point,” the source says. “He was also treated for burns on his skin as if he had been putting cigarettes out on his own body.”

“Right now he’s in his extreme mania,” a family member tells the mag. “His concerned friends and family are hoping he’ll seek treatment. He doesn’t need jail, he needs therapy. We’re just really hoping that this will be the wake-up call that gets him back to himself.”

The situation escalated this past weekend when Steve-O e-mailed suicide notes to several friends, blaming a broken romance.

Get well, Steve-O!

Steve-O’s rep had no comment.

The drug charge is the result of his arrest earlier this month when he was allegedly found vandalizing his neighbor’s property, TMZ reports.

In the guide to ganja, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine suggests puffing while listening to the music of Lauryn Hill, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder and Miles Davis, while model Adrianne Curry suggests covering up your weed breath with lip gloss. She said, “I carry orange lip gloss, which covers up the pot smell in my mouth for my husband when I tell him I haven’t been smoking . . For mints, I prefer Icebreakers. They’re really strong and burn your tongue, but they cover the smell up in two seconds.”

Jonah Hill, the stoner star of “Knocked Up” and “Superbad,” demonstrates how to get high by smoking out of an apple, and Whitestarr burn-out Cisco Adler shows the kids at home how to put together a gravity bong. Other celebs who dish on their herb habits: Melissa Etheridge, Cal Penn, Rob Thomas, and — of course — Steve-O.
