Tiger’s wife, Elin Nordegren, gave birth to little Charlie on February 8th. Sam Alexis, their daughter, is said to be happy to be a big sister!

Tiger Woods and his wife Elin Nordegren became the proud parents of daughter Sam Alexis, and yesterday (Sunday, February 8th) they welcomed their second child, a son named Charlie Axel Woods.

According to Tiger’s official website:

“Both Charlie and Elin are doing great and we want to thank everyone for their sincere best wishes and kind thoughts. Sam is very excited to be a big sister and we feel truly blessed to have such a wonderful family. I also want to thank our doctors, nurses and the hospital staff for their personal and professional care. We look forward to introducing Charlie to you at the appropriate time, and again thanks from all of us for your kindness and support.”

Happy news for the Woods family!

Tiger Woods and his wife Elin Nordegren are expecting their second child in mid-winter, he announced on his website.

“This has been a year of contrasts,” Woods, 32, wrote. “I had a solid start to the season, won the U.S. Open in an exciting playoff, and then unfortunately had to shut it down after successful knee surgery.

“And now, I have some wonderful news to report. Sam is going to be a big sister.” (Woods and Nordegren welcomed daughter Sam Alexis Woods in June 2007.)

“Elin is feeling great and we are both thrilled,” Woods went on. “While my injury has disappointing and frustrating, it has allowed me to spend a lot of time watching Sam grow. I can’t begin to tell you how rewarding it is being a dad and spending time with her and Elin.

“The injury has been a blessing and a disappointment.”

And we know what Tiger has been doing with his extra time off!  Hee Hee!

After 91 holes and days of play, Tiger Woods secured his third U.S. Open win after a very exciting sudden death match and despite the pain from his ailing knee.  Tiger battled Rocco Mediate in a 19-hole playoff. 

Mediate’s odyssey began two weeks ago when he had to survive a sudden-death playoff simply to qualify for this U.S. Open. Even more unlikely was going toe-to-toe with Woods.

He had a 20-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to win, but it slid by on the left.

Mediate lost the tournament but walked off Torrey Pines with 12,000 new friends who crammed both sides of every fairway for a playoff that was tighter than anyone imagined.

“Obviously, I would have loved to win,” he said. “I don’t know what else to say. They wanted a show, they got one.”

Did they ever.

It capped a remarkable week for Tiger, the world’s No. 1 player, who had not played since April 15 surgery on his left knee and looked as though every step was a burden. But the knee held up for 91 holes, and the payoff was worth the pain, even if doctors had warned him that he risked further injury by playing the Open.

“I’m glad I’m done,” Woods said. “I really don’t feel like playing anymore. It’s sore.”

Somehow, Dr. Phil made $90 million in 2007 alone. I guess dispensing all of that, “I’ll tell you what” wisdom really pays off. The most peculiar entry on this list is Leona Helmsley’s dog, Trouble, who got $12 million dollars in her will, making Trouble a higher 2007 earner than Katherine Heigl and on equal to Ryan Seacrest. Isn’t that just a little insane?

Tiger Woods has a new spot to store his clubs.

The golfer, 32, has snapped up a $65 million, 13,200-square-foot oceanfront estate in Southampton, New York.

The digs come complete with six bedroom suites, a music room, a cypress wood-paneled library and staff quarters, as well as a 7,500-square-foot guest house, which features ocean views, three bedrooms, a den and a kitchen.

Wait, there’s more!

Nicknamed “By the Sea,” the mansion is surrounded by a seaside pool with spa, tennis court, lily pond and professionally-landscaped gardens. (Perfect for afternoon walks for Woods’ wife Elin Nordegren, 28, and their daughter, Sam, 9 months!)

Their new neighbors? Fashion designer Vera Wang and New York Times publisher Arthur Ochs Sulzberger.

This isn’t the first home Woods has splurged on.

He also owns a $40 million estate on Jupiter Island, Florida (that was partially destroyed in a fire last year) and a 155-foot long yacht, Privacy. He’s also building a 16,500-square-foot palace that will feature a pool and theater on a golf course he designed in Dubai.
