Travis Barker, who survived a tragic plane crash with DJ AM nearly a year ago, opens up about the loss of his friend.
The Blink-182 drummer, 33, took to his Twitter account to express his feelings about the death of DJ AM.
“Don’t know how I am gonna play 2night but I am for AM. My brother is gone. I love u and miss u, I’ll never forget all the good times we had.”
Barker continued: “I’ll never forget everything we’ve been through and every time I play the drums, I’ll think of you. U were an amazing friend/DJ/human being.”
Both Barker, who suffered second, and third-degree burns after a Learjet caught fire during an aborted takeoff in South Carolina, leaving four others dead, on Sept. 19, and DJ AM (whose real name is Adam Goldstein) had said they were just thankful “to be alive” after the crash.
“Rest in peace, my brother,” Barker Tweeted. “This really fucks me up.”

Considering what these two guys went through together, we think they will be close for the rest of their lives.
Travis Barker and DJ AM grabbed some lunch together at Toast restaurant in Los Angeles. The buddies shared a big hug before heading off.
DJ AM might have a high-profile wedding gig on the horizon – his ex-girlfriend Mandy Moore told press that she’s contemplating asking him to perform at her wedding reception when she marries Ryan Adams.
Moore revealed, “We haven’t really gotten that far. I could ask my friend Adam [DJ AM]. That could work too. [There are] many options. I haven’t even gone down that path yet.”
Very interesting!
After Travis Barker publicly bitch slapped Shanna Moakler via his MySpace blog and now with pictures of Shanna getting cozy with Gerard Butler, it is safe to say that Travis and Shanna haven’t reconciled (like many thought) after Travis was one of only two survivors in a fatal plane crash.
Doesn’t Gerard look like he is scanning the room for other women while Shanna desperately tries to get his attention?

Travis Barker is slowly recovering from the plane crash that put him in the hospital and killed his two close friends. He took to his MySpace blog to thank the people close to him and the hospital staff for their support and hard work. Travis said he will undergo his 7th surgery today. He can move all the fingers in his right hand and he started eating meat again (he was a longtime vegetarian) because the doctors said he needs the protein. He said that seeing DJ AM after he was discharged is an inspiration.
Travis also used his to bitch slap his ex, Shanna Moakler. Aww, just like the old days!
The diss to Shanna has been removed from the MySpace main page for some reason, but is still on Travis’ blog. He writes:
Despite any rumors you might have heard via my EX-wife Shanna Moakler, who I have not seen since the week I checked in, Ive been treated amazingly well, both here in LA and in Georgia. The hospitals Ive been treated at are THE BEST.
With all of the reports that Shanna ran to his side after the crash, we thought they had re-kindled their romance.
Travis must be feeling a lot better if he’s dissing Shanna on MySpage. It’s nice to see that some things never change.

Plane-crash survivor Travis Barker was discharged from the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Georgia today.
DJ AM, who also escaped the crash with Travis, was released Friday.
A week after surviving a plane crash that took the lives of four people, DJ AM has been released from Doctors Hospital in August, Georgia.
“While he is deeply saddened by the events he is thankful for all of the love and support he has been receiving from fans and friends world wide,” his rep said. “We ask that you continue respect his privacy as he rests and heals and mourns the loss of his friends.”
The 35-year-old, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, was being treated at the hospital’s Joseph Still Burn Center for second- and third-degree burns.
Actress, Mandy Moore, his ex, was seen buying a get well gift for him at Mr. Ballon and Cookies by Design in West Hollywood on Thursday.
Moore had flown to Georgia to be by AM’s side as he and Travis Barker, the sole survivors of the small jet crash in South Carolina Friday night, were treated for burns. Both are expected to make full recoveries.
Get well, fellas.
The coroner has just released the cause of death for the four victims of Friday night’s plane crash in Columbia, SC, and it’s horrifying.
The Lexington County Coroner says Chris Baker, Travis Barker’s assistant, died of blunt force trauma to the head and neck, and Charles Still, Barker’s bodyguard, died of an acute subdural hematoma caused by blunt force trauma to the head.
The two other victims, the pilot and co-pilot, died of smoke and fume inhalation and thermal injuries.
So sad.
It is thought that a blown tire caused the plane crash.
Barker has burns on his torso and lower body and DJ AM has burns on his arm and part of his head. Both are expected to make a full recovery.
Shanna Moakler has released the following statement regarding Travis Barker’s weekend jet crash:
“There are not enough words to express how thankful we are for the outpouring of love and support we have received during this very difficult time. We can only ask for prayers as we heal and mourn the loss of our dear friends who we considered part of our family. Our lives will be changed forever.”
Moakler, who is now back together with Barker after a 2004 divorce (the couple has two kids together), is with Travis as he recovers from second and third degree burns at the Joseph Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Travis Barker and DJ AM suffered second and third degree burns from Friday’s jet crash that killed four people, Dr. Fred Mullins, Medical Director at Georgia’s Joseph Still Burn Center, announced at a press conference Sunday morning.
Barker has burns on his torso and lower body and Goldstein has burns on his arm and part of his head, Mullins said.
Mullins would not say the percentage of their bodies that were burned or whether they were conscious. He also did not go into detail about the type of treatment they are currently receiving.
He said the two did not sustain any other injuries from the crash.
“I think these patients are going to make a full recovery,” Mullins said.
He added, “Anybody who can survive a plane crash is very lucky.”
Fans who would like to send well wishes to Travis Barker or DJ AM may go to the center’s web site; click on “visitors” and then “email a patient.”
It is suspected that the crash occurred because of a blown tire.
Federal officials say the crew members told air traffic controllers they thought they heard a tire burst and tried to abort takeoff. The Feds say the plane was traveling at least 92 mph (the minimum takeoff speed) when the crew became alarmed. Pieces of tire were found 2800 ft. down the 8600 ft. runway. The plane came to rest on an embankment a quarter-mile past the end of the runway.

The wreckage of a Learjet that was carrying former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, Adam Goldstein, also known as DJ AM, and four others rests on an embankment along Highway 302, along the outskirts of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport, Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, in Columbia, S.C. Barker and Goldstein were critically injured; two other passengers and two crew members were killed.

Travis Barker and celebrity music spinner, DJ AM were critically injured after their Learjet 60 crashed during takeoff from South Carolina’s Columbia Metropolitan Airport, just before midnight on Friday. The plane was headed for Van Nuys, CA.
The former Blink 182 drummer, Barker, and DJ AM are in critical condition and being treated for severe burns at an Augusta, Georgia burn center.
Barker was transported by ground to the burn facility from the site of the crash.
DJ AM was airlifted.
Four people died in the crash.
The deceased have been identified as pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills, CA co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad, CA, Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City, CA, and Charles Still, 25 of Los Angeles, CA.
Chris was Travis’s assistant.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families.
The plane crash is still under investigation, however, during a press conference late Saturday morning a spokeswoman for the National Transportation Safety Board revealed that the plane overran the airstrip and proceeded to run into a number of the airport’s lights and antenna.
Air traffic controllers reportedly “saw sparks coming from the runway” before the crash. Investigators don’t know if that was from the aircraft or its engines.
A South Carolina resident named William Owens was driving down a highway next to the airport when he said he saw a fireball go across the road. He told local TV station WIS News 10:
“I didn’t know what I had seen — it was maybe 800 feet in front of me, but as I approached it closer though I made out a fire. By then I was able to see the tail of the jet and I recognized it as a jet,” Owens said.
Owens then described what he saw as he tried to make it to the wreckage.
“It’s in flames and the fuel is running across the road and I had to cross the fuel to get to the two guys that seemed to have been dumped on the highway,” Owens said.
Owens said the two men (Travis and DJ AM) were running around and stripping down to extinguish themselves. He then asked the men if there was anyone else on board the plane and they said four more were with them.
“We turned to the jet to try and see if there was anything we could do, but immediately, there was nothing anyone could do,” Owens said.
Travis and AM were in Columbia, South Carolina Friday night for a T-Mobile sponsored concert at Five Points, a popular shopping district.
Musicians Perry Farrell and Gavin DeGraw were also part of the festivities. Their reps confirmed that they WERE NOT on the plane that crashed.
So sad, sad, sad.

The on-again and off-again relationship between former MTV reality show couple Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler is off again – this time for good, Travis says.
“No, I’m no longer with her,” Barker said over the weekend at the 5th annual Roots Jam benefiting Rock the Vote at West Hollywood’s Key Club. “We were actually divorced a few days ago.”
Asked if he’s found any new romance, Barker says, “I have a beautiful daughter at home, a beautiful son at home. That’s where my head is at right now. I don’t have time for anything else.”
The couple, who in happier days starred in MTV’s Meet the Barkers, have two kids together: Landon, 4, and Alabama, 2.
