I just don’t get it. Tyra Banks in a so-called effort to pay homage to Michelle Obama, a woman who will hopefully be our next first lady, portrays her in the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar. Banks and Harper’s Bazaar found a Barack lookalike and have a young girl, who appears to be of similar age to one of the two Obama children, posing under a desk just like the famous Kennedy photo. As we all remember, Kennedy was a young, hopeful president with a beautiful family. Barack, Michelle and their two beautiful girls are also a beautiful family. However, Kennedy was assassinated, which is really why the picture of John-John under the desk while his daddy was working is so very endeared.
I guess I get that the intent is nice. Tyra, of course, speaks highly of Michelle Obama in the interview and also mentions that she wants Michelle to be a guest on her show in the fall. There is just something about Tyra portraying Michelle Obama that seems to be in bad taste. Maybe it is because I think Michelle Obama is an ultra classy woman. Tyra…not so much.
Here is a quote by Tyra from the Harper’s Bazaar interview. I think you’ll see why I have a hard time seeing Tyra Banks portray Michelle Obama.
“Oh, I want her to not take herself too seriously,” she says. “She’d need to know how to take a fierce picture, but at the same time be able to eat fried chicken, have grease on her fingers, and be okay with getting photographed like that, too. I’d want her to feel like every child in America is hers – to have a true connection.”
Banks says if she were First Lady, her Secret Service acronym would be “KMFA: Kiss My Fat A–.”

Tyra Banks and Ashton Kutcher will be joining forces to bring television audiences just what we need — a new reality show.
The America’s Next Top Model queen and the producer of Punk’d and Beauty and the Geek are working together on an unscripted show for ABC that will have contestants competing in a beauty pageant, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Tyra and Ashton have something up their sleeves but ABC, which has ordered eight episodes of the still-untitled show, is keeping the twist under wraps.
