It’s been confirmed that Richie Sambora’s 10-year-old daughter with Heather Locklear, Ava, was in the car when the Bon Jovi guitarist was pulled over for driving erratically and arrested on a DUI charge in Laguna Beach, Calif., on Tuesday night. Richie’s girlfriend and another unidentified juvenile girl were also with them.
The Laguna Beach Police Department says the rock star failed sobriety tests and was detained. Sgt. Jason Kravetz tells In Touch, “He was very cooperative with all the staff.” He was also given a blood test before being released at 4 a.m. Wednesday morning, and Richie was given a ride home. “We are a small police department and we routinely do that, take people home,” Kravetz says. “There was another woman who was arrested around the same time and we took her home as well.”
Richie is no stranger to alcohol problems: In June 2007, he entered a treatment facility, telling Today, “I was just drinking too much and I needed to get my life together.” Richie is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 in Newport Beach, Calif., for the charges. His next tour date with Bon Jovi is set for Monday in Denver.
