On Oprah Winfrey’s talk show yesterday she opened up about tipping the scales at 200 pounds. Oprah expressed that she is angry and embarassed to still be talking about her weight. She is using her TV show to launch a Best Life program. She kicked it off this week by talking about her weight and her plan to get back on track.
Winfrey admitted that last year she’d just about “given up” on herself and that her life has been out of balance.
Her adviser and fitness expert Bob Greene told her last year she was mildly depressed.
“I looked in her eyes, and she wasn’t there. She was very vacant and distracted,” Greene recalled. “I think she was losing her zest for life, and that was one of the saddest moments.”
“It’s not about using food or abusing food,” said Winfrey. “It’s about balance. When I ask myself what I am hungry for, I am hungry for balance.”
She told the audience that she was pledging to work to bring more joy and balance to her life. “When you love yourself, you take care of youself. You have to make yourself a priority.”
The rest of this week is devoted to people living their best lives. Today Dr. Oz will be on for a show on health. Wednesday’s show will be about finding a spiritual path. Suze Orman will be on Thursday to talk about money. Friday’s show will be about relationships, intimacy and sex.
It all sounds interesting. We will be tuning in.
