“Ghost Brothers of Darkland County,” a new Southern Gothic musical by Stephen King, the horror writer, and John Mellencamp, the musician, is to open in April 2009 at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta. In a recent interview in Rolling Stone Mr. Mellencamp said that if the musical, about the reverberations of a tragedy in small-town Mississippi, did well in Atlanta, it would head to Broadway.

I hope it makes it to Broadway.  These two are each really great at what they do so it will be interesting to see how it all turns out.

Who needs to shower when you’re a movie star? Well, actually, Orlando Bloom does, if he wants to keep his model girlfriend, that is.

According to Star magazine, Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr has apparently thrown down the soapy gauntlet to her on-again, off-again beau, demanding that her stinky lover begin showering regularly and actually wear clean clothes, rather than recycling the same T-shirts, jeans and even (ew) socks, day after day.  Icky!

“Miranda thinks Orlando is too smelly,” an unnamed source told the mag. Meanwhile, Orlando appears willing to try cleaning up his act for the 24-year-old model, but has apparently told friends he “doesn’t know if this relationship will last.”

Maybe Orlando needs to find a babe who has lost her sense of smell.  After all, wouldn’t you be a little peeved if your boyfriend wouldn’t even bother to shower for you?

Miley Cyrus and her dad are doggy heroes.

The 15-year-old superstar and Billy Ray were driving in Los Angeles when they saw a pooch on the side of the road and came to his rescue. Once out of harm’s way, they called the puppy’s owners, who took the little guy home.

Jessica Simpson is going to Kuwait!

“Hey ya’ll. I just wanted to say hi, and let you know that I am hard at work on my country record, and I can’t wait to share it with all of you,” Jessica posted on SweetKisses.net. “I am heading to Kuwait to do a show for the troops, then back in the studio.”

In the online message, posted to a section of the site called “Jessica’s Corner” on February 27, Jessica ends by saying, “I love you all and am so blessed by the support and love you show me everyday. xoxo jess.”

She’s committed to funnyman Jim Carrey, but Jenny McCarthy says that they won’t be walking down the aisle. “We’re living together, we don’t want any more children and we’re very happy — all that’s going to be is a piece of paper, really,” Jenny says of marriage.

The 35-year-old divorced actress notes that marriage doesn’t mean love will last forever. “What is it a guarantee of? I’ll be yours forever? I’ll be faithful? Bull!” The mother of Evan Asher, 5, also adds that she doesn’t need to marry to have additional children — because she doesn’t want more: “This womb is closed.” But she does admit that Jim, 46 — who’s been divorced twice — makes her happy. “He is the light of my life and we’re more in love now than we have been in our entire relationship.”

Jim has a 20-year-old daughter, Jane, with his ex-wife, Melissa Womer.

Jenna Bush and fiance Henry Hager celebrated their final moments of unattached life with respective girls-only and guys-only getaways this month.

Bush, 26, and a group of female friends headed to Florida in mid-February for a girls-only getaway. “She had her weekend … in Boca Raton, but at a private home,” a source says. “It was like a spa weekend. It was very low-key.”

The following weekend however, Hager, 29, and a group of male friends kicked off a bachelor party in Miami. “It was a total boy’s weekend,” says the source. “There were about twenty guys, most of whom came down from D.C. and New York. They went fishing all day Saturday, but they didn’t catch anything!”

The group then headed to South Beach’s Delano Hotel to continue the festivities. “They hung out behind the pool area at the hotel, behind the bar. He was having a great time,” says the source, adding that Hager called it a night around 1:30 a.m., while some of his friends stayed behind.

The couple are slated to marry May 10 at the President’s ranch in Crawford, Tex. A source says Bush and Hager – a former Commerce Department staff member who’s in his final year of the MBA program at Virginia’s Darden School – are considering “spending four weeks in Europe, going from country to country,” for their honeymoon. But of course, wherever they go, they won’t be alone: The Secret Service will tag along.  Bummer!

Tyra Banks and Ashton Kutcher will be joining forces to bring television audiences just what we need — a new reality show.

The America’s Next Top Model queen and the producer of Punk’d and Beauty and the Geek are working together on an unscripted show for ABC that will have contestants competing in a beauty pageant, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Tyra and Ashton have something up their sleeves but ABC, which has ordered eight episodes of the still-untitled show, is keeping the twist under wraps.

Sarah Larson is the luckiest of all the ladies it seems. She is George Clooney’s beautiful girlfriend and it seems that things between the two of them are getting really serious. Sarah was George’s date to the Oscars on Sunday night, a first for Clooney. He had always previously attended the Academy Awards stag.

Eva Mendes continued her healthy repertoire by going to the gym on Tuesday. The actress checked out of rehab on February 7 from the exclusive Cirque Lodge in Utah, where she had spent several weeks. Leaving her workout in her peach-colored pants and gray workout top, Eva, 33, appears to be taking her post-rehab health seriously.

Eva is one of our favorites.  Let’s hope she continues to stay healthy.

Jimmy Kimmel really does love Ben Affleck.

The talk show host – who memorably declared “I’m F*cking Ben Affleck” in a music video Sunday night – cannot stop singing the actor’s praises.

“Ben could not have been more sporting,” he says of his video costar. (The song was designed as a retaliation against Kimmel’s girlfriend Sarah Silverman for her clip, “I’m F*cking Matt Damon.) “He told us, ‘Listen, if we’re going to do this, we’ve got to do it right. I don’t want you guys to worry about my image.’ ”

In the video, Affleck and Kimmel declare their love while backed by an A-list gospel choir including Cameron Diaz, Robin Williams, Ashlee Simpson and Don Cheadle.

There are also non-singing cameos by Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford, who blows the new couple a kiss before driving off in his convertible – revealing a “Honk if you’re f*cking Ben Affleck” bumper sticker.
