Paula Abdul Quits American Idol

After Paula Abdul reportedly demanded $20 million to renew her contract with American Idol and the powers that be said no, Abdul has quit the show that revived her career.

Abdul used her Twitter page to make the announcement:

“With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to IDOL. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day 1 become an international phenomenon. What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me. It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month. I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all.”

Fox has released a statement about Paula’s departure:

“Paula Abdul has been an important part of the American Idol family over the last eight seasons and we are saddened that she has decided not to return to the show,” FOX TV says in a statement. “While Paula will not be continuing with us, she’s a tremendous talent and we wish her the best.”

Wow. Although there had been a lot of talk about Paula leaving the show, we are truly shocked that Abdul and American Idol couldn’t come to an agreement.

What do you think about Paula’s statement? She sounds slightly bitter to us. It was the part about ‘helping the show from day 1 to become an international phenomenon.’

Will the show go on? Of course it will, but something will be missing from the AI family. Everyone is going to miss Paula’s craziness, and her craziness, at times, helped to keep the show in the news.
