I’m a big fan of Sex and the City, so I thought this was interesting news.
The Sex and the City saga is set for a series of prequels – author Candace Bushnell is writing a pair of teen novels about the high school adventures of Carrie Bradshaw.
Bushnell will chronicle her most famous character, portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker on the big and small screen, as she deals with teenage fashion issues and other matters in The Carrie Diaries.
A spokeswoman for publishing house HarperCollins says,
“The books will take readers back to Carrie Bradshaw’s formative years in high school, giving an inside look at Carrie’s friendships, romances and how she realized her dream of becoming a writer.”
The first Carrie Diaries book is expected to hit stores in 2010.
I’m not really thrilled about Carrie Bradshaw’s story turning into a teen novel. An “R” rated book about her teen years, I might appreciate.
They are going to run this series into the ground.
